MADISON (WKOW) – An author who helped find the location of Fort Blue Mounds in southern Wisconsin will address the state historical society this week.
Robert A. Birmingham is scheduled to speak Tuesday at the society's Madison museum. The event is free but the society will accept donations.
He will sign copies of his book "Life, Death, and Archaeology at Fort Blue Mounds" after the address. The book details the history of the fort, which played a key role in U.S. military operations and served as a refuge for white settlers, Birmingham's efforts to ascertain the fort's precise location and recover artifacts.
