MADISON (WKOW) -- Every two seconds a patient in the U.S. needs blood. And this month the American Red Cross is thanking the millions of dedicated blood and platelet donors across the country through National Blood Donor Month.
The celebration gives local blood centers the opportunity to honor past and present donors, and send a plea to new, eligible donors, to participate in donating.
The winter months typically see a decline in donations due to the holidays, traveling, bad weather, and illness, but the American Red Cross says the need for donors is always there.
Here is a list of upcoming blood drives in our area:
- Jan. 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Mary's Care Center, 3401 Maple Grove Drive in Madison.
- Jan. 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Stoughton Hospital, 900 Ridge Street in Stoughton.
- Jan. 19 from 7a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. John's, 625 E. Netherwood in Oregon.
- Jan. 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tri North Builders, 2625 Research Park Drive in Fitchburg.
- Jan. 23 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Heritage Oaks, 6205 Mineral Point Road in Madison.
- Jan. 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at University of Wisconsin Microbial Sciences Building, 1550 Linden Drive in Madison.
- Jan. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Central Wisconsin Center, 317 Knutson Drive in Madison.
- Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Edgewood College, 1000 Edgewood College Drive in Madison.
- Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Operation Fresh Start, 1925 Winnebago Street in Madison.
- Jan. 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Smart Motors Toyota/Scion, 5901 Odana Road in Madison.
