Anonymous tip leads to drunk driving arrest

MADISON (WKOW) -- An anonymous caller advised the Iowa County Sheriff's Department to look into a possible intoxicated driver just before midnight on Wednesday.

The deputy responded to County Road Z, north of Dodgeville, and found an abandoned vehicle in the ditch near Cty Rd Z and Dyerson Rd. He continued to search for the driver who was believed to be walking home.

The deputy made contact with 69-year-old Anthony Thomas near the intersection of Cty Rd Z and FarLook Rd. After further investigation, it was believed Thomas had been driving under the influence of alcohol.

Thomas was arrested and transported to the Iowa County Jail on a charge of a third OWI offense.
