Discrepancy about what was in bottles man brought to Capitol

MADISON (WKOW) -- There's some discrepancy about what exactly was inside the bottles police say a man brought inside the Capitol building Tuesday.

Kvon Smith, 20, was arrested after police say he made Facebook threats about bringing "Molotov cocktails" to the Capitol and igniting them.

A probable cause affidavit filed against Smith states "...Smith came into the capitol building with Molotov cocktails in his backpack. Smith said he was going to ignite the cocktails inside the building."

But the Wisconsin State Journal reports Madison Fire Department Division Chief Lance Langer said Wednesday the three bottles Smith carried into the Capitol were neither explosive nor flammable. According to the report, Langer says it's probable one contained standard motor oil, one clear water and chalk, and the third rubbing alcohol.

Langer says Capitol Police knew the results of the HazMat teams analysis of the liquids around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the WSJ report.

Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne told 27 News Wednesday he was still waiting for specific information from investigators about the contents of the bottle.
