MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police arrest a man they say robbed someone, then led police on a short chase before crashing a car he stole.
Around 1:20 Friday morning, police say a Madison man was getting out of his car in the 4700 block of Cottage Grove Road, when the suspect hit him in the head with a gun and demanded money. The suspect took off with the money and the victim's car.
A short distance away, officers saw the stolen car and got into a short pursuit. The suspect crashed the stolen car into a light pole at East Washington Avenue and Stoughton Road.
They arrested the suspect, Sterling B. Ellison, 27, of Chicago. He faces charges of Armed Robbery, Battery, and Eluding.
The victim did not need medical attention.
