50 people come to Madison to search for missing man

MADISON (WKOW) -- Police have still not found a 26-year-old man from the Fox Valley area who has been missing since Wednesday.

On Saturday, about 50 people from Charlie Geurt's hometown of Kaukauna came to Madison to help search. Police K9 and horse units were also out canvassing the area south of Lake Monona.

Police say they've narrowed the search to the 3000 block of Waunona Way, which is less than a mile from the Sheraton Hotel where Geurts was last seen.

Police say a neighbor called 911 reporting a prowler or strange person in their yard just a half hour after Geurts left the hotel Wednesday morning. Police have a strong reason to believe it was him.

Searchers handed out hundreds of flyers to area homeowners and businesses. Police say they will not be out looking for Geurts on Sunday.
