MADISON (WKOW) -- A mattress fire caused $12,000 in damage to a downtown Madison apartment.

It only took crews about five minutes to put out the flames in an apartment on North Hamilton on Saturday afternoon.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no one was hurt. The fire was confined to the apartment where it started.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, but fire officials believe it was unintentional.
