State to invest in Hispanic Chamber of Commerce loan fund

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- At the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's Annual Gala, Governor Scott Walker announced the organization will get $100,000 from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).
The money will expand the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin's revolving loan fund.
"This co-investment by WEDC in the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce revolving loan fund will leverage other public and private matching funds to assist businesses grow in Wisconsin," said Governor Walker. "This investment in the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce revolving loan fund is part of WEDC's strategic plan to support business development and job growth in Wisconsin."
The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin creates, expands, and diversifies small and Hispanic-owned businesses in Wisconsin with a strong focus in the Milwaukee Metro area.
WEDC made an initial investment of $100,000 in 2012 to help establish the loan program, and the Chamber administering the revolving loan fund.
The Chamber provides educational and technical resources and fosters economic exchange between the business and corporate sectors. It promotes a network for political issues, community affairs, and opportunities for the Hispanic population and the community at large.
WEDC has also supported revolving loan funds for the American Indian Chamber of Commerce, Hmong Chamber of Commerce, and African American Chamber of Commerce.
