MADISON (WKOW) -- It's the 20th annual Healthy Weight Week, which means it's a time to celebrate healthy habits that last a lifetime and prevent weight problems.
Kelly Jones, the clinic director for Medithin Weight Loss Clinics, says to take this week to start fresh and approach your New Year's resolutions a little differently.
One way Jones says to do that is to break up your goals into "puzzle pieces". She says it's the little things you do daily that count and help you put your puzzle to a healthier life back together.
Jones says to break up your long term goals, especially your weight loss goals, into small pieces that can be done on a daily basis. She says to tackle one piece at a time until it becomes habit, then move on to the next piece.
According to Jones, if you keep your goals a secret, it gives you an out if you fail. She says if you truly want success, you've got to be accountable to someone.
Jones says to ask someone who shares your passion for setting and reaching goals, to hold you accountable daily. If that person is not someone you see daily, she says a friendly little text or email will let you know someone cares about your success.
Some other things Jones suggests is become a part of a workout network, journal your food and eat less processed foods.
Jones joins us on 27 News at 5 on Tuesday to give some helpful tips on keeping the winter weight gain at bay.
