MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison company is cutting dozens of jobs.
RMT, Inc. notified the Department of Workforce Development that it will lay off about 66 employees total -- about 30 from its headquarters on Heartland Trail in Madison and another 36 from out-of-state.
RMT said the cuts are a result of it being sold. In its filing with the DWD, the company said it provided employees with advance notice of the terminations, but it was unable to foresee how many or which employees would be cut in connection with the sale.
RMT says the layoffs will begin January 25. It's offering the affected employees a severance package to help them with their transition to find new jobs.
The company designs and builds clean energy facilities. It's owned by Alliant Energy.
