Missing man may have fallen into Lake Monona

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison investigators say a man who disappeared in Madison may have fallen into Lake Monona.

Officers have been looking for 26-year-old Charlie Geurts for a week now.

He was last seen leaving the Sheraton Hotel on John Nolen Drive in the early morning hours of January 16.

Police say a police dog found his scent where a man believed to be Geurts knocked on the patio door of a home about a half-hour after Geurts left the hotel.

Officers say they searched the lake but didn't find any evidence that Geurts had fallen through.

Authorities suspended the search Saturday night, but plan to begin again during regular working hours once the cold snap passes.
