DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Authorities have identified the woman killed Thursday morning in a crash along Highway 19.
The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office says the deceased is 45-year-old Lauri D. Sullivan of Waterloo.
Investigators say Sullivan's SUV was found on its roof off Highway 19 just east of Cherry Lane around 7:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
Deputies say they believe alcohol played a role in the crash. The medical examiner's office says toxicology testing is underway.
DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Shortly before 7:00 a.m. Thursday morning, Dane County Sheriff's deputies responded to a vehicle seen laying on its roof off of Highway 19, just east of Cherry Lane.
UW Med Flight was also called, as was Marshall Fire and EMS. Upon arrival, deputies found a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer overturned in a field.
The driver has been identified as a 45-year-old woman from Waterloo. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Crash investigators believe the woman was traveling eastbound on Highway 19, veered off the side of the road, then overcorrected and hit an embankment. The vehicle then went airborne and rolled over, eventually coming to rest on its roof.
Highway 19 was closed for approximately 2 ½ hours while emergency responders worked the scene. Deputies believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, however, a final determination will not be made until the medical examiner has made his findings.
The woman's name is not being released at this time, pending notification to the family.
DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- All lanes are blocked in both directions on Highway 19 in Dane County for a car accident.
The accident happened just outside of Marshall around 7:00 Thursday morning. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says WI 19 is closed in both directions near Cherry Lane and traffic is being re-routed onto Waterloo Road.
DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Med flight responds to a car crash off Highway 19 on Cherry Lane in Dane County.
Dane County Communications reports Med flight has been contacted and will respond. The crash happened around 7:00 a.m. on Thursday.
