Scene of gas leak cleared in Edgerton

EDGERTON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin State Patrol says the scene of a gas leak in Edgerton is now clear.

The leak was reported around 7:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Edgerton Fire Department.

Part of Highway 51 going through town was closed from Albion Road to Fulton Street.

Some homes were evacuated as a precaution. As the night grew on, firefighters escorted homeowners back in home-by-home to make sure it was safe for residents to return.

The State Patrol says everything was reopened around 10:45 p.m.
