Record numbers at gun show in Wausau area

WAUSAU (WKOW) -- A day after thousands rallied in Washington, D.C. for stricter gun control laws, another gun show reports record attendance.

Organizers of a gun show in the Wausau area say about 4,000 visited their show over the weekend.

They say people of all skill levels are browsing and talking with experts about firearms.

"They're looking for ammo, they're looking for high capacity hand guns, and they're looking for AR15s and AKs," said the show's director Robert Pucci.

Many gun show organizers report an increase in the number of people taking an interest in owning a gun since recent mass shootings across the nation.

Congress is set to take up the President's proposals for more thorough background checks, and banning military-style assault weapons and large ammo clips.
