MADISON (WKOW) -- State Senate and Assembly committees will meet simultaneously on February 6 to vote on putting the GOP's mining bill on the floor for debate.
The legislation would make it easier for an iron mine to open near Lake Superior.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said Monday he hopes the Senate will vote on the bill around March 5.
Republicans say the bill will bring jobs to Wisconsin. Democrats are worried about its environmental impact.
