WAUSAU (WKOW) -- Hundreds of skiers hit the trails at Nine Mile Forest on Saturday morning for the Badger State Games.
A week before, organizers were worried they may have to cancel the events due to a lack of snow.
Gunter Malik has been coming to the Nordic skiing competition for five years and says he was among those concerned.
"It started to warm up and just melted the snow away except for the drifts," Malik said.
Organizers and avid skiers say last week's snow was just what the trails needed.
