MONROE (WKOW) -- A Monroe company and its owner are accused of defrauding Wisconsin's Medicaid program of more than $1.5 million. Now the federal government has sued Anglin Transport.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports according to the lawsuit, the company submitted more than 100,000 false claims for reimbursement over four years. The owner, Anthony R. Anglin, allegedly spent money on a sports car, boats, SUVs and other things for himself.

The newspaper reports that by law, state and federal governments reimburse transportation providers to take people to and from services covered by Medicaid. Providers can get extra payments if the patients is taken on a cot or stretcher.

Investigators say Anglin Transport submitted 3,376 "cot and stretcher" claims for a single patient who was never transported by stretcher. The complaint states for some Medicaid recipients, Anglin Transport submitted six claims for one day of service.

The Journal Sentinel reports in total, federal officials calculate Anglin was overpaid by $1,529,265.68.

Anglin was found guilty in Green County Circuit Court about a year ago of one count of Medicaid fraud. He had been charged with four counts. He was sentenced to three years in prison, but his sentenced was withheld on condition of a year in jail with work release privileges, the Journal Sentinel reports.
