UPDATE: 1 dead, 2 injured in 3 vehicle crash


TOWN OF WINDSOR (WKOW) --  One person is dead and two others are injured after a three vehicle crash in the Town of Windsor, near DeForest.

Around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, Dane County Sheriff's deputies along with EMS crews responded to the crash on Highway 51 south of Vinburn Road. Investigators say a 33-year-old man was driving a Saturn south on Highway 51 in the northbound lane, when he hit two vehicles going north.

The man driving the Saturn was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other drivers, both women, were taken to local hospitals to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 51 was closed for about 3 hours. Deputies believe alcohol and speed may have been factors in the crash.

The names of those involved have not been released yet.


DEFOREST (WKOW)-- Authorities say the scene of a three vehicle car crash at the intersection of Highway 51 and Vinburn Road in DeForest, has been cleared.

Authorities finished reconstructing the scene, and reopened the closed portions.

DEFOREST (WKOW) -- Authorities are on the scene of a three car crash at the intersection of Highway 51 and Vinburn Road in DeForest.

The Dane County Communications Center says the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office was called to the scene.

Officials say there were initially three injuries reported and three ambulances responded.

MedFlight was also called to the scene.

Highway 51 is closed down both north and southbound. Traffic is being rerouted at Highway 51 and Gray Road.

The crash was first reported around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday.
