OAK CREEK (WKOW) -- Members of the Sikh temple in Oak Creek are reflecting six months after the deadly shooting rampage there.
Pardeep Kaleka's father was killed in the attack.
He says in the months since the shooting, he's become more deeply involved in the community.
He says remembering the tragedy serves an important purpose.
"I hope that everybody understands that just because we revisit something doesn't mean that we want to relive it. But we owe it to those people that we've lost to them as inspiration as far as being a better society."
Pictures of the victims still hang in the temple, and a bullet hole is there too as a reminder of what happened.
The mayor of Oak Creek says the city's schools have also worked harder to teach students about other cultures since the shooting.
