GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- Green Bay officials hope the good fortune of Packers great Donald Driver will rub off on the city street being renamed after him.
Donald Driver Way is a portion of Pearl Street in downtown Green Bay.
Titletown Brewery is on one corner and officials hope to bring lots of new business into that area.
And they say renaming the street after a Packers legend is a sound business decision.
"You look at Holmgren Way that's a recent name change that kind of immediately gave value to a new commercial corridor in Ashwaubenon. So now when we market the development we say we just renamed a street after one of our Packers who we're proud of, a strong participant in the community that resonates with developers and that does make a property more developable," said Christopher Naumann, spokesman for the "On Broadway" district development.
At Donald Driver's retirement celebration on Wednesday, Green Bay mayor Jim Schmitt announced that both a statue, along with the street, would be dedicated in Driver's name.
