Andrew Meis, 20MADISON (WKOW) -- A judge rules a young man is not competent to stand trial in an attempted homicide case.
Andrew Meis, 20, appeared in Dane County Circuit Court Friday morning for his competency hearing. A judge agreed with the opinion of Dr. Craig Schoenecker on Meis' mental health.
Meis was arrested and charged with attempted homicide after he told a staff member at a psychiatric hospital he had bought an assault rifle in a plot to kill a friend and a neighbor. Authorities say the hospital staff member alerted police to Meis' intentions.
