OAK CREEK (WKOW) -- The first officer on the scene of the Sikh Temple shooting in Oak Creek is being honored Tuesday at President Obama's State of the Union.
The White House invited Lieutenant Brian Murphy and his wife to join Mrs. Obama for the president's speech.
Murphy survived after being shot 15 times.
He said it's a bit surreal at this point.
"With my background, you wouldn't think in a million years, 'Yeah, when I'm 50 I'm gonna go see the White House and sit in a box and all that.' Those things just don't happen."
Murphy said they originally told the White House they couldn't go, but on second thought, they knew they had to.
