Two charged in Chicago student's death

Posted:

CHICAGO (WKOW) -- Authorities in Chicago say they've filed murder charges against two men accused of killing a 15-year-old girl who performed in President Obama's inauguration.

A Chicago police spokeswoman announced the charges against 18-year-old Michael Ward and 20-year-old Kenneth Williams in connection with the death of Hadiya Pendleton.

Pendleton was killed January 29 while walking with friends in a park.

Police say they believe the suspects mistook Pendleton and her friends for a rival gang.

She had recently taken part in Obama's inauguration festivities with her high school band.
