MADISON (WKOW) -- A bipartisan group of lawmakers worked with representatives from AT&T and the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs to host Thursday's "It's a Great Day to Love a Veteran" event at the State Capitol.
All legislators and their staff have been invited to attend and tape a special video message to support and thank veterans. It's part of AT&T's "Love a Vet" project, launched last Veterans Day.
Veterans will be able to view the videos on the "Love a Vet" Youtube playlist at www.att.com/loveavet.
Also, those who plan to come are encouraged to drop off their old cell phones at the event in support of Cell Phones for Soldiers, which uses the recycling proceeds to buy and send free phone cards to military members overseas.
The legislative hosts are Assembly Majority Leader Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford), Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca (D-Kenosha), Senator Leah Vukmir (R-Wauwatosa) and Senator Mark Miller (D-Monona).
We'll have more on the "It's a Great Day to Love a Veteran" event tonight in 27 news at 5 and 6.
