MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison couple shares their incredible love story that all began at a dance years ago.
Lawrence and Sue Kislia have been together 60 years, and the couple seems madly in love still. They joined us on 27 News at 5 on Thursday, and held hands the entire time.
Sue Kislia says the two met at a school dance when she was in High School and he was in the service. After meeting and sharing a few dances, she said she asked him to her sweetheart ball, which was a dance where the girls asked the boys.
She says they knew right away they would get married, and within a few months they were.
The couple told us every day is special, and the secret to a happy marriage is communication.
"Talk through the problems, don't let them smolder and get worse," Sue Kislia said. "Realize that neither one of you is perfect, that you have faults and learn to work through it, the tough parts."
"Don't go to sleep mad at each other," Lawrence Kislia said.
The happy couple has six children, 19 grandchildren, and eight great grand children, which they are very proud of them all.
