MADISON (WKOW) -- Dane County Sheriff's deputies, Dane Fire Department and Waunakee EMS were called to a barn fire just after 8:30 Monday morning in the town of Dane.
The owner and a passerby noticed flames coming from the barn, located on County Highway Y, and immediately called 911.
The barn was used mostly for storage, but did house about a dozen chickens. All of the chickens were rescued, but the building is a total loss.
The fire did spread to another storage building and firefighters were able to extinguish it. Damage was to the roof only.
No one was injured and the damage estimates are not yet known. The fire does not appear suspicious in nature, but the cause has not been determined.
