MADISON (WKOW) -- A small group of National Guard soldiers are back in Wisconsin after a year-long deployment.
Members of the 82nd Agribusiness Development team were met by friends and family in Madison Friday. They worked on several missions in Afghanistan, but their primary focus was training Afghan farmers and helping build and agricultural infrastructure in the Kunar Province.
It was an emotional reunion for some. MSG Kent Bauer and his family couldn't believe this day had finally come. "It's not really real yet. Sarah didn't really remember daddy but when she saw him, she knew who he was," Bauer's wife Heidi said about their 3-year-old daughter.
Most of the 82nd ADT was sent home in September. These were the final 13 members of the unit.
