Madison Fishing Expo goes into its 28th year

MADISON (WKOW) -- Friday afternoon was the kickoff to the 28th Annual Madison Fishing Expo.

An estimated 20,000 visitors will stop by the Alliant Energy Center this weekend. Many are anxious to get out on the lake where they can use their new tackle and gear.

The organization that puts the expo together is entirely made up of volunteers. All profits go towards keeping the tradition alive.

"After these 28 years we've raised over $600,000 that we've put back into the area lakes. So, mission accomplished so far," Co-Director Charlie Grimm says.

Tickets to the expo cost $10, but children 14 and younger get in for free. Veterans can also get into the expo free of charge. Doors open at 9:00 am Saturday and Sunday.
