Verona Boys Hockey heads to State Championships

MADISON, WI (WKOW) -- The Verona Area Boys Hockey team is headed to the state championships for the second year in a row.

The Wildcats beat Madison Edgewood Saturday night 4-2 at Hartmeyer Arena.

Verona was up 2-1 in the second period when Edgewood's Nick Kanoff dumps it off to Eliot Friedow who sneaks it in the corner of the net to tie up the game.

With seven minutes left in the game, Verona retook the lead with a goal from Junior Charlie Parker.

The Crusaders had one last chance to send the game into overtime, but Zac Keryluk came up with the takeaway on the boards, sending it to Parker who gets an open-netter from center ice.

This is Verona's fifth trip to the state championships in school history.
