MADISON (WKOW) -- Fire investigators aren't sure yet what caused a fire at a popular Mexican restaurant Monday morning.
They got the call at 7:16 a.m. to Taqueria Guadalajara at 1033 South Park Street. Firefighters say they could see the smoke from four blocks away and flames coming from a vent on the south side of the building as they got closer.
There was an initial report of someone still in the building, but no one was found when firefighters searched the two-story structure.
Firefighters kept the blaze contained to just the one building, preventing exposure to neighboring structures and a truck in the driveway. They knocked down the fire within 10 minutes, but stayed on scene to take care of hot spots in the walls.
The Madison Streets Department was called to the scene after Park Street reopened to sand the road in front of the restaurant. Water used to fight the fire has started to ice up on the street.
There is no damage estimate yet and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Madison Fire spokeswoman Lori Wirth says the water used the fight the fire has caused some icy patches on Park Street, and urges drivers to take is slow in that area.
