A native Madisonian, LiLi Tan is looking forward to getting to know her hometown again. She graduated from West High School, before attending college on the West Coast and moving to the East and then the Far East.

LiLi came back to Madison to join WKOW as a Multimedia Journalist and producer for Wake Up Wisconsin Weekend. She has a background in print reporting, having worked at publications in New York City such as People and ELLE. She also worked in Asia for three years, blogging for The Huffington Post during the 2008 Beijing Olympics and working as features editor for Tatler magazine in Hong Kong.

Most recently, she graduated with a Master's of Science from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.

Her work has also appeared in United Press International (UPI.com), Wall Street Journal Asia, McClatchy Newspapers, The Daily CallerSouth China Morning Post, FinanceAsia, Monocle, and Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia.

If you couldn't tell, LiLi enjoys traveling. When she was in undergrad at UCLA, she studied abroad in London. Since then, she's traveled throughout Europe, to Istanbul, Shanghai, Hanoi, Siem Reap, Singapore, Bangkok, Vientiane, Bali, Tokyo, Australia, Mexico City, and exotic Canada.

LiLi's parents grew up in Malaysia, so they always made amazing satay, noodle dishes, and curries at home. Her parents passed down their passion for food, so she also loves cooking, especially for friends. LiLi's specialties include: Sichuan beef noodle soup, soy-cinnamon-braised chicken, wasabi mashed potatoes, miso black cod, and cake.
