MADISON (WKOW) -- On Wednesday the Wisconsin State Senate is expected to vote on the mining bill.
The Legislature's Budget Committee approved the republican bill that overhauls the state's mining regulations. The Joint Finance Committee's 12-4 vote on Monday sent the bill onto the full senate and assembly.
The measure is designed to clear the path for Gogebic Taconite's plans for a huge iron mine near Lake Superior. The assembly will take up the bill next week.
