UPDATE: Madison Streets Dept. clears roads for morning commute

MADISON (WKOW) -- City of Madison officials say they expect a slow commute this morning as snow continues to cover the roads.

Chris Kelley, Streets Superintendent, says the salting crews have been out since the snow began last evening.  The main arterials will continue to be salted and plowed throughout the day.

About sixty plows are out clearing off the roads in Madison.

Kelley warns although the roads have been salted and plowed, the streets may remain snow covered and slippery until the snow stops later today.

MADISON (WKOW) -- A winter weather advisory is in effect for most counties in our viewing area, including Dane County.

Sixty plows are out clearing off the roadways in Madison. Crews were sent out around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday night.

Crews work on the main streets. Chris Kelley from the Madison Streets Department says they hope to have the main streets cleared by noon on Wednesday. At that time, they will make a decision about plowing residential streets.
