MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- A job fair in Milwaukee draws a thousand prospective teachers Saturday.
Milwaukee Public Schools are looking to hire 700 new teachers. The district says it has a lot of openings after a three-year wave of retirements.
Andrea Escamilla was among the applicants. "I am looking for a first through eighth position. I'm also certified in ESL. I'm graduating in May. I'm student-teaching right now in Mukwonago," she said.
Escamilla and others shared their backgrounds with principals looking to fill positions. Some left with contracts in hand.
