MADISON (WKOW) -- Several Madison-area bowling alleys hosted the annual Bowlin' for Colon fundraiser for UW's Carbone Cancer Center on Sunday.
Local bowlers have helped the event raise more than $200,000 since this event started in 2001.
"When we see families that are touched by this and they bring their families and that whole community, it really recognizes, it brings to the forefront to me that it really does take a community effort to fight cancer in the way that we do," said Sam Lubner, an oncologist at the Carbone Cancer Center.
Colorectal cancer is the third-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S.
