Milwaukee pastor takes HIV test in front of congregation

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- A Milwaukee church took a step Sunday towards confronting HIV in Wisconsin, when the pastor and youth pastor at All Peoples Church took HIV tests in front of their congregation.

They note an HIV epidemic among young African American men and say the church shouldn't be silent on the issue.

"The reason we're doing that is to try to take away the stigma and the fear around knowing your status, and to encourage folks to get tested and know what's going on," said Rev. Steve Jerbi.

The church also made HIV testing resources available to its congregation.
