WAUKESHA (WKOW) – The parent company of Superior Dairy made a $5.5 million bid for the Golden Guernsey Dairy plant in Waukesha.
A company trustee says LEL Operating Co. put a $500,000 deposit on the plant that closed two months ago after the owner filed for bankruptcy.
A private equity firm from Los Angeles, California, bought the plant in 2011 and shut down the company January 5. The closing of the plant resulted in over 100 jobs lost. The dairy processor has been in the Milwaukee area for more than 80 years.
Randy Roskom worked for Golden Guernsey for 16 years. Roskom tells WISN-TV that he is hopeful about the latest development because he hasn't been able to find another job.
