Small knives, other items allowed on flights April 25

WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- Starting in about six weeks, you'll be able to carry small knives, golf clubs, souvenir baseball bats and other sporting equipment on airplanes.

The head of the TSA announced the change today; those items have been banned on airline flights since after the September 11th attacks in 2001.

Unions for flight attendants and airline workers said the items can be a danger to airline workers and passengers.

The TSA says armed pilots, federal air marshals and airline crew members trained in self-defense provide additional layers of security to protect against misuse of the items.
