MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Police continue to investigate the shots fired near the University Houses area Tuesday night.
Madison Police are trying to figure out the sequence of events that led up to the gun shots being fired. Police are conducting interview with witnesses his morning to get more information.
Authorities believe they have been in contact with everyone involved in the incident.
Madison Police say there is no eminent danger to the community at this time.
MADISON (WKOW) -- Three persons of interest are in custody after UW Police received a number of calls reporting shots fired in the University Houses area.
Around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the area. They took two people into custody and began searching for a third person of interest. Police found shell casings at the scene.
Wisc Alerts were sent to the campus community shortly before 10:00 p.m. advising neighbors of the situation. Subsequent alerts had a description of the person police were looking for.
The third person of interest was taken into custody around 11:30 p.m. There are no reports of injuries, and the all clear was given just before midnight.
The persons of interest do not appear to have any affiliation with UW. The investigation continues. Anyone with information is urged to contact UW Police Department at (608) 262-2975.
MADISON (WKOW) -- The University of Wisconsin-Madison is warning everyone to stay away from the Eagle Heights and University Houses area due to a possible armed suspect.
The Dane County Communications Center says it received reports around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday of shots being fired in that area. There were no reports of any injuries.
UW officials say police officers are searching for a black male wearing a red and black flannel who was last seen headed west from University Houses. They say anyone with information should call 608-264-COPS.
