MADISON (WKOW) -- UW-Madison welcomed one of four finalists to be its next chancellor.
Nicholas Jones is currently the dean of the engineering school at Johns Hopkins University.
He's also served as the head of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Jones says engaging with students is important to him.
"In that job, you're sliced thinner than salami in terms of getting pulled in a hundred different directions. I think it requires you to make that a priority."
Jones says he plans to invite students to join him on his early morning runs and he plans to engage with them through social media.
Three more candidates are coming to visit the UW in the next two weeks.
