Madison man dies in Sauk Co. skiing accident

TOWN OF MERRIMAC (WKOW) -- The Sauk County Sheriff's Office reports a Madison man died in a skiing accident at Devil's Head Ski Resort Saturday.

The Sauk County Communications Center was notified about the incident at approximately 4:50 p.m. Saturday, and Ski Patrol and a Sauk Prairie Ambulance responded.

The Sheriff's Office says 30-year-old Jonathon S. Headberg, of Madison, died as a result of his injuries at UW Hospital. It was reported that he was skiing down a hill when he lost control and hit a tree.

It's unknown if Headberg was wearing a helmet.
