UPDATE: Toddler dies after attack by pit bulls

WALWORTH (WKOW) -- The Walworth County Coroner confirms that the 14-month-old boy has died after being attacked by pit bulls.

A 30-year-old woman reported that she and the boy were being attacked at a home on North Lakeshore Drive around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The boy was taken to a Milwaukee-area hospital where he died of his injuries.

Authorities say the woman told them she owned the pit bulls.

The Walworth County Sheriff's Department says the dogs were removed from the property and euthanized by a local veterinarian.

WALWORTH (WKOW) -- Shortly before 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Walworth County Sheriff's received a 911 call stating a woman and child were being attacked by pit bulls.

When deputies arrived on North Lakeshore Drive, 30-year-old Susan Iwicki and a 14-month-old boy were under attack from the dogs she owns.

Both sustained multiple injuries.  The animals were removed and a local veterinarian euthanized the pit bulls.

The toddler was initially transported by ambulance to Mercy-Walworth Medical Center and then taken to a Milwaukee-area hospital by Flight For Life.  His injuries are considered critical.

The investigation is ongoing.
