No fraud found in UW overpayments

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW) -- University of Wisconsin System executive, Michael Morgan, says there's no evidence of fraud with the $33 million that was overpaid in health insurance premiums and pension contributions.

Morgan says the investigation is ongoing, but there's no indication the money ended up in secret bank accounts.

The overpayments over the past two years were discovered during a recent routine audit by the state.

The UW System has recovered all but about $12 million, and Morgan says efforts continue to recoup those dollars.

He says changes are being implemented to prevent this from happening again.

The system has also hired auditors to oversee those changes.
