Apartment fire displaces 7 residents in Madison

MADISON (WKOW) -- An apartment fire leaves seven people displaced and causes $125,000 in damage to a three-story building.

It happened on the 400 block of South Baldwin Street about 9:45 Saturday night. When the first unit arrived, they reported no smoke or fire showing from the outside.

A fire crew entered the building and found heavy smoke when they reached the second floor. They located the fire in the laundry area of the apartment and quickly put out the flames.

The fire was under control within 10 minutes. The floors of the apartment complex suffered heavy smoke and fire damage.

No injuries were reported. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
