MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin hunters can start buying leftover spring turkey permits later this month.
State Department of Natural Resources(DNR) officials say the department made 234,130 permits available, but more than half were awarded through a lottery. The DNR has about 100,000 left for over-the-counter sales.
Permits for Zone 1 will go on sale March 18, Zone 2 on March 19, Zone 3 on March 20 and Zone 4 on March 21. Permits for Zones 5, 6 and 7 will go on sale March 22.

The permits are $10 for Wisconsin residents, $15 for non-residents and $5 for hunters who are 10 or 11 years old. They'll be available through the DNR's website, authorized agents and at DNR service centers.
The spring turkey season begins April 10 and runs through May 21.
