MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison school district leaders say the governor's budget proposal will harm public schools.
Interim Superintendent Jane Belmore and school board members sent a letter to the Madison Legislative Delegation, saying the governor's voucher plan could cost the district $2 million in state aid next year, and increasing each year to nearly $9 million in the fourth year of the program.
Officials say that could lead to an increase in property taxes.
The legislature needs to sign off on Walker's budget before it takes effect.
