MADISON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is looking for sturgeon guards.
Volunteers are needed to guard sturgeon as the fish make their annual spawning run up the Wolf River in eastern Wisconsin sometime between late March and Early May.
Because lake sturgeon gather in such large numbers, they are susceptible to people wading in the water to grab them or netting them from a boat.
Sturgeon guards do not stop poachers. The volunteers are asked to observe, collect information and call a warden.
