Crash leads to 7th OWI arrest

JANESVILLE (WKOW)-- A traffic crash lead to a 7th OWI arrest early Monday morning.

While patrolling the area of North Pontiac Drive and St. George Place Officer David Reints found a traffic crash.

The investigation revealed that Ronald Campbell Jr. struck an unoccupied parked vehicle while driving south bound on N. Pontiac Drive. Campbell was not injured, and initially submitted to a series of field sobriety tests.

However, he refused to finish and told Officer Reints he was drunk. According to Reints, there was a strong odor of intoxicants coming from Campbell, he was unsteady on his feet, and slurred his speech.

A preliminary breath test showed a result of .43 blood alcohol content; results from an evidentiary blood draw are still pending.

Campbell was arrested for his 7th OWI and is currently in custody on those charges.
