MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police arrested a woman for OWI-5th offense, as well as hit and run after she drove into a light pole in the 7800 block of Watts Road Sunday night.
42-year-old Heather Sipek's SUV was found lodged in a snowbank in the median of the road. Both airbags had been deployed and the light pole knocked over.
The suspect and a male companion were located by a Dane County Sheriff's deputy walking along Commerce Drive.
The man claimed neither were driving, but Sipek finally admitted she was behind the wheel.
Sipek was arrested and taken to jail for OWI-5th offense, hit and run and deviating from a designated lane. The man was cited and released for failure to report an accident and obstructing, because of his false statements.
