Former Walker aide due for restitution hearing

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) – One of Gov. Scott Walker's top aides will find out how much restitution he owes following a conviction on a theft charge.

A hearing Thursday afternoon will settle the amount of money that Timothy D. Russell owes in restitution.

Russell pleaded guilty to stealing more than $20,000 from a nonprofit group that Walker appointed him to lead when Walker was the Milwaukee County Executive.

Russell was sentenced to two years in prison in January.  At the hearing, the prosecutors sought restitution but turned down the defense's offer of $22,000, saying the amount should be higher.

According to the Associated Press, Defense attorney Parker Mathers says there's no pre-arranged agreement with the state heading into the hearing.
